Climate Change vs. Global Warming
Climate change is often used interchangeably with global warming, but according to the National Academy of Sciences, climate change is growing in preferred use to the term global warming because it conveys that there are other changes in addition to rising temperatures.

Many major scientific agencies that study the atmosphere have agreed that the climate is warming. The main cause of this is thought to be greenhouse gas emissions.

What are Greenhouse Gas Emissions?
Greenhouse gases are components of the atmosphere that contribute to the Greenhouse Gas Effect. They include carbon dioxide, methane, ozone and the fluorocarbons.

What Can You Do to Help the Environment?

» Recycle plastic, paper, aluminum cans and glass.
» Buy reusable products, not disposables.
» Buy energy efficient cars and appliances.
» Lower heating costs by adding insulation to the walls and attic or your house. Installing weather stripping or caulking around doors and windows can also reduce the amount of heat needed.
» Use compact fluorescent light bulbs. They last about ten times longer than incandescent bulbs and use less energy.
» Drive less and use mass transit when possible.
